The Gérontopôles are intended to bring together actors from the world of research, the social world and the economic world around the “well-being” of the elderly. The prevention of the loss of autonomy and the accompaniment of the extension of life, are one of the great challenges to be taken up in our society. The mission of the Gérontopôles is to bring together and energize stakeholders in research, care, training and business around ageing.

The 9 Gérontopôles of France met to create their Union and install its governance.

Alongside President Françoise Tenenbaum (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), Gaël Perdriau has been appointed administrator for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

In consultation with all the member Gérontopôles, which retain their specific regional, national or even international role, and in collaboration with the other major players in the field of aging in France, the Union will thus bring a consensual voice and constitute a new resource on the questions research, care (hospital, home, nursing home), training and the silver economy to meet the challenges of aging well and old age, and imagine the solutions of tomorrow.

The Board of Directors, installed on March 13, is faithful to the territorial diversity and the strong scientific dimension of the founding Gérontopôles.
