the national conference of interns in psychiatry this week

A few months after the 15the National Congress of Psychiatry which brought together some 4,000 professionals in November 2023, Lyon hosts the National Congress of interns in psychiatry, at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), Thursday March 21 and Friday March 22.

More modest, with 250 participants, this congress offers around fifteen meetings, symposiums or workshops, around social and current issues, affecting all ages of life.

Among the themes covered are the denial of pregnancy hypersexualization of adolescents, suicide and social networks, Hikikomori (people living secluded in their rooms), the treatment of perpetrators of sexual violence… A psychiatrist and an oncologist will also launch the debate on the end of life.

“We wanted to speak to everyone and arouse the curiosity of the participants,” explains Dr. Clémence Convert, president of the Congress. The office, made up of five interns, had two years to refine this program because the congress, initially planned for 2023, could not be held due to a disaster at the ENS. “We finally created the conference that we wanted to attend,” summarizes Clémence Convert. And we are delighted with the result! »
