Rhone. Professor Jean-Louis Touraine named Doctor Honoris Causa of Favaloro University in Buenos Aires
This distinction which honors Professor Jean-Louis Touraine marks forty years of cooperation between Buenos Aires and Lyon in the university hospital field, mainly in transplantation, nephrology and immunology.
Professor Pablo Raffaele had worked for more than 5 years in Professor Touraine’s department at the Edouard-Herriot hospital, before joining the Favaloro foundation, where he created and directed an entire kidney, kidney + pancreas transplant activity. , kidney + heart, kidney + liver.
Intense links between Lyon and Buenos Aires
Exchanges of doctors and nurses have been organized between these two cities for the past three decades. This cooperation is intended to continue and expand in the future.
Three conferences were also organized, one in the University, the second at the French Embassy and the third in the library of the Alliance Française, where Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote some of his books when he was stationed in Buenos Aires.
Professor Jean-Louis Touraine was a professor of medicine in the department of transplantation and immunology at Claude-Bernard Lyon 1 University and a hospital practitioner at the Edouard-Herriot hospital. Professor Touraine has been president of France Transplant since 1995.
