“Popping acne” is a technical job

I believe most people have experienced acne on their face. Many people can’t help but squeeze pimples when they see them, and even regard it as a fun way to relieve stress, which may eventually lead to scars or pits. What exactly does pimple pop out of? How to pop pimples correctly? At what point should we stop crowding? Today, let’s follow a plastic surgeon to systematically learn about “acne”.

What’s all that stuffed out of pimples?

Acne, medically called “acne”, is a common chronic inflammatory pilosebaceous gland disease. When the pores are blocked and bacterial infection occurs, a red, white, raised rash will appear, with a pustule in the center, accompanied by pain.

What does acne pop out of?

White long strips of “acne plugs” containing mites. When squeezing an acne, what comes out is in the shape of long white strips, which may be “acne plugs” formed by a mixture of sebum, necrotic keratinocytes, etc. The main ingredients contained in acne plugs are: dander, sebum and some bacteria, etc. Some acne plugs contain mites.

White liquid The white liquid may be the secretion of sebum, that is, fatty acids. This kind of acne is caused by excessive secretion of sebum, which causes the release of free fatty acids from the sebaceous glands, which stimulates the secretion of sebaceous glands and forms acne.

Brown or black particles If the extruded acne appears as brown or black particles, this is because the acne has been latent on the surface of the skin for a long time, and the exposed part of the skin has been exposed to the air for a long time and has become black and hardened after being oxidized. If this type of acne is left unchecked, it will enlarge the pores.

Teach you the correct steps to pop acne

Wash your hands and face thoroughly before washing your hands and face to reduce bacterial adhesion.

Disinfect the acne area and fingers. Use alcohol or iodophor to disinfect the acne and surrounding skin in a spiral circle from the middle to the surrounding area. At the same time, disinfect the fingers you plan to use to pop the acne.

To disinfect items, take an acne needle and wipe it with alcohol or iodophor to disinfect it. If there is no acne needle, you can also use a disposable sterile needle as an alternative.

The direction of the needle picking pimples is from the direction parallel to the face to the top of the pimples to break it. A reminder here, try not to penetrate the acne vertically with the needle, because people often penetrate too deep because of poor grasp of the penetration depth, and then pierce the dermis layer of the skin. Once the dermis layer is punctured, it is easy to leave behind scar.

When using cotton swabs to squeeze out acne, it is preferred to use two medical sterile cotton swabs to squeeze 5 mm from both sides of the acne to squeeze out the white and yellow contents of the acne until the light red blood flows out and stops. If a cotton swab is not available, you can also use sterilized fingers to squeeze it.

Aftercare: After squeezing the acne, use alcohol or iodophor to disinfect it in a circular motion from the inside out, and then apply a thick layer of metronidazole gel on the acne (leave it on for at least an hour before wiping it off). It can Prevent infection while speeding up the resolution of acne. At this point, the entire pimple popping process is complete.

It takes about 2-3 days for the wound to heal after the acne is squeezed. During this period, if you need to apply skin care products, it is recommended to avoid the acne area. If you need to put on makeup, it is recommended to wear an acne patch for protection.

If you squeeze until you see blood, stop immediately

Squeezing pimples feels good for a while, and it keeps feeling good as long as you squeeze it…wait a minute, at what point should you stop squeezing? You should consider stopping when you see bleeding.

If clear fluid flows out after squeezing, this is subcutaneous tissue fluid, indicating that it has been squeezed too much. If you continue squeezing, it may cause scars or pigmentation. If the acne is hard and cannot be squeezed out, it means that the root is very deep and generally cannot be squeezed out. If you continue to squeeze out forcibly, it will easily leave pits and scars.

Having said so many things to note about popping pimples, I still recommend that you try not to pop pimples on a daily basis.

When you have acne, you can take topical medications: apply metronidazole gel once in the morning and adapalene gel once in the evening. If you have accidentally left acne marks, you can try applying 15% azelaic acid gel to the acne marks once in the morning and evening. If you insist on it for a period of time, it will often improve. If necessary, you can go to a plastic surgery department for more professional treatment.

Knock on the blackboard

It is strictly forbidden to squeeze acne in the triangle area!

We also need to remind everyone that acne in the “facial triangle area” should not be squeezed.

The “facial triangle” refers to the triangular area formed from the root of the nose to the corners of the mouth on both sides. It includes the upper lip, nose and both sides of the nose. The blood vessels in this area are connected to the blood vessels in the brain. Squeezing the acne with force can easily squeeze the bacteria into the blood circulation of the brain, which can then cause intracranial infection, and the consequences will be very serious.
