Is Yiliu coming?Doctor: The probability of an outbreak is low

Following the A stream, the B stream has attracted public attention in recent days. Many experts said that the symptoms of influenza B are slightly milder than those of influenza A, and the likelihood of an outbreak is low.

“A stream just happens to be recruited by stream B again”

A few days ago, a piece of news that “A stream of people happened to be recruited by stream B again” became a hot search on social media.

Zhao Wei, deputy director and deputy chief physician of the outpatient department of Hangzhou Children’s Hospital, said in an interview with the media that the proportion of children diagnosed with influenza A has recently dropped from 30% to 20%, but influenza B has a clear upward trend, from the original 2% The number increased to 15%. “Many children have influenza A on their front feet, but their back feet are infected with influenza B.”

Sino-Singapore Health also learned about similar situations from many hospitals in Beijing. Li Ran, deputy chief physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, said that the number of patients with influenza A has declined recently compared with the previous period, while the number of patients with influenza B has increased slightly.

The monitoring data of the 51st week (December 18-24) of the “Influenza Surveillance Weekly” released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention-National Influenza Center shows that the rising trend of influenza epidemics in the north and south of the country has been contained, with the south at a high level of fluctuation and the north having It has begun to decline. Combined with the influenza surveillance data from Beijing, Tianjin and other places, we can initially draw a conclusion: At present, the current influenza epidemic in the country has entered a period of decline, but the proportion of influenza B continues to rise, which requires close attention.

What are the symptoms of B-flu?

“Influenza A and B are relatively common among humans, which are often referred to as seasonal influenza, especially during the annual flu season.” Li Ran told Sino-Singapore Health that both influenza A and B are influenza, but the types are different. According to the naming principles of influenza viruses by the World Health Organization, they are divided into A, B, C, and D according to virus types. In China, they are A, B, C, and D.

On social media, some patients said, “B-flow is the king of kings. It hurts all over the body and even to the bones.” Some patients said that B-flu can cause a high fever overnight. Li Ran said that from a clinical perspective, the symptoms of influenza B are slightly milder than those of influenza A, but there are also symptoms such as fever, body aches, sore throat, and cough.

Li Tong, chief physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Beijing You’an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, once told Sino-Singapore Health that both influenza A and B can cause high fever and the onset is quick. Generally, high fever will occur the next day after uncomfortable symptoms.

Li Dong once said that the infectivity and clinical symptoms of influenza B are similar to influenza A, but influenza A mutates faster. Even after most people are infected with influenza A, the immunity protection period they obtain is relatively short, while influenza B The virus is not as mutable, and the protection gained after infection lasts longer.

Doctor: The probability of influenza B outbreak is low

“Relatively speaking, influenza A is more likely to cause a high incidence of influenza cases and spreads faster. Influenza B has a lower probability of outbreak and spreads relatively slowly.” Li Tong once mentioned that although the symptoms of influenza B are slightly milder than those of influenza A , but children with B influenza are more likely to have gastrointestinal symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, and the treatment methods are the same.

How to identify stream A or stream B? Li Ran introduced that it is mainly through influenza virus antigen or nucleic acid detection methods. Patients can purchase influenza virus antigen detection reagents by themselves and do it at home, or they can conduct influenza virus nucleic acid testing through the platform. But in her opinion, in terms of treatment, both influenza A and influenza B are given anti-influenza virus drugs.

She said that influenza is a self-limiting disease. If the patient is a young person with mild symptoms and no underlying diseases, he or she can generally take antipyretic drugs for symptomatic treatment. However, it is recommended that patients with underlying lung diseases or immune deficiencies, diabetics, obese patients, pregnant women, and dialysis patients go to the hospital as soon as possible.

“The simplest and most effective prevention method is to get the flu vaccine.” Li Ran said. (Wei Xianghui)
