Federal Ministry of Health: Standing Vaccination Commission will be largely replaced

The person responsible for vaccination recommendations in Germany Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) is being reorganized in terms of personnel. Stiko has achieved great achievements during the pandemic, said Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD), according to a statement. “Now it will be staffed with many new members from very different specialist areas, younger and even more interdisciplinary,” it says.

In consultation with the highest state health authorities Federal Ministry of Health the members of the voluntary committee were reappointed. According to the ministry, Stiko will be expanded to include experts in the areas of modeling and communication. The committee also includes immunologists, virologists, microbiologists, pediatricians, gynecologists as well as general and occupational physicians.

The future 19-member group will meet for a constituent meeting on March 12th and 13th, a ministry spokesman said. A new chairperson should be elected,
