Desire to have children: “A different desire to have children is not a reason for separation”
Moving in together, maybe getting married and, of course, having children: “That sounds so nice, so easy, so normal to many people,” says couples therapist Nele Sehrt. But it is not. Like almost everything Desire to have children. Not only those who want children have to ask themselves many questions: When? How quickly? With whom? Alone or as a couple? Can my body cope with it? But also those who decide to be happy without children – because that is often still seen as something deficient, says Nele.
In this episode, podcast hosts Melanie Büttner and Sven Stockrahm talk to Nele about answers: for couples, singles, queer people, whether infertile, ambivalent or having tried for years. Because far too many people remain alone with their desire to have children or a no to it, says Nele. But there are more solutions than many people think. Even if for some it can also mean a painful farewell.
