Bourg-en-Bresse. Serena Diazzi receives the “Young Researcher” award for her work on cancer

The Dr Jean Bruhière, president of the Ain committee of the League against Cancer, has just awarded the Young Cancer Researcher prize, created in 2010, to Serena Diazzi, doctor in molecular and cellular biology.
Serena Diazzi, born in Milan, dedicated herself to cancer research following the illness of a loved one, cured of cancer through targeted therapy in 2021. After secondary studies in Milan, a master’s degree in genetics and molecular biology obtained jointly between the Lombard city and Paris, this young biologist completed, in 2021, a doctorate at the Mediterranean Center for Molecular Medicine in Nice. It focused on resistance to targeted therapies in melanoma.
Recognized work
Since October 2021, she has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Lyon Cancer Research Center (CRCL) under the direction of Dr.r Julien Ablain. His research theme focuses on metastatic melanomas.
The quality of his work has been recognized by several scholarships and publication awards. In 2021, it filed a patent concerning the use of Nintedanib, an anti-fibrotic which increases the effectiveness of targeted therapies in melanoma. His research is now focused on understanding the migration of melanoma cells to target metastases. To do this, she is interested in the role of the environment in which the cancer cell develops.
