Aifa, Robert Giovanni Nisticò is the new president


After a long wait, the Italian Medicines Agency finally has its new president. This morning, the State Regions Conference confirmed the nomination for Robert Giovanni Nisticoproposed by the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci after last February 22nd the previous president, Giorgio Palù, had left office. Nisticò is currently Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Tor Vergata: this completes the new management of Aifa, which has recently undergone a major reform.

“We express our deepest satisfaction with the appointment of Professor Nisticò as the new President of the Italian Medicines Agency”, commented Francesco Cognetti, President of the Federation of Oncologists, Cardiologists and Hematologists (FOCE), who welcomes the appointment as a guarantee for all scientific societies and patients: “During his career he has carried out numerous and prestigious activities in the field of medicines regulatory affairs , as well as having been Principal Investigator of numerous studies in the field of pharmacology and in particular neuropsychopharmacology – underlines Cognetti -. He is the author of numerous scientific publications in this sector and is highly appreciated nationally and internationally.
