A ‘patient-friendly’ Foundation is born at the Sant’Andrea hospital in Rome

Working to respond to patients’ needs at every stage of treatment, facilitating the testing of innovative medical pathways. The Sant’Andrea University Hospital Foundation was born with this aim, and will be presented on 7 December at the Faculty of Medicine and Psychology of the Sapienza-University of Rome of Sant’Andrea.

The strengths of “Sant’Andrea” are recognized nationally and internationally. The quality of the assistance is also demonstrated by patients and, not surprisingly, among those who will participate in the presentation of the Foundation, there will be the world champion Bruno Contiwhich wanted to express an explicit recognition of “the professionalism and humanity” encountered in the hospital.

The training of doctors

In fact, for several years Sant’Andrea has been in the highest positions among Italian Teaching Hospitals in all international rankings for quality and efficiency but, to reach an even higher level of quality, it is completing an extraordinary expansion work that will allow to pursue new Global Health objectives. The close connection between the hospital and the Sapienza university center makes the structure an excellence both for medical assistance and for scientific research. The Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, the only Italian structure capable of simultaneously training professionals in physical, psychological and social well-being, offers teaching and research of the highest level inseparable from the quality of hospital care.

Facilitate experimentation

The objective with which the Foundation was born is to place this model of close connection between science, training, care and global well-being at the service of patients and citizens, facilitating the experimentation of innovative paths of precision medicine and humanization of care and supporting new health promotion models.

The Foundation’s focus is also on sustainable health, recognizing the close connection between human health, animal health and ecosystem conditions. This is exactly the concept behind the modern approach to health that is called One Health.

The One Health Award

On the 7th, the first edition of the One Health award will be announced, aimed at personalities from the fields of medicine, culture, business and sport who have highlighted the importance of health and healthy lifestyles; have made a contribution to the promotion of well-being on a local and global level; have been able to spread values ​​in line with the eco-sustainability of the planet and with a health model based on the principles of Cure & Take Care. The personalities, selected at the end of the year by a highly qualified Scientific Technical Committee, will receive the title of “One Health Ambassador” during 2024.
