【Doctors talk freely. Between the Ears]Do you think I have time to get a headache?

After dinner that day, I sat in the living room with my family and watched TV. There happened to be an advertisement for painkillers playing on the TV. A deliveryman in the advertisement was rushing back and forth to deliver goods to customers scattered all over the place. During the busy delivery process, he developed a headache.

When he was suffering from a headache, he asked a question: “Do you think I have time to have a headache?” Then he took painkillers to solve the headache problem and continued his busy work. After seeing this advertisement, I suddenly felt something in my heart.

Not waking up when symptoms appear in the body

Having no time to rest is the living condition of modern people. When the body is broken down by overwork, we do not take the right medicine and take painkillers to treat headaches and foot pain. This is a common problem of modern people and the tragedy of modern people. Living in a fast-paced society, we have forgotten that the important secret to a healthy life is to have a normal routine.

We always sacrifice time for rest and sleep to get more working hours to make more money. Without realizing it, we are slowly pawning our precious health. What’s even more sad is that when we fall ill and have various symptoms in our bodies, we don’t wake up.

We just have to control these symptoms as quickly as possible and then continue our busy life. So we have no time for illness because we only have time for busy life. We put work at the top of our lives and health, the most important thing, at the end of our lives. Isn’t this putting the cart before the horse?

I once advised an obese patient to lose weight.

His first reaction was: “Doctor, is there any medicine that can achieve the goal of weight loss with one injection?” I stared at him and said with a smile, “The best way is to control diet and continue to exercise!” He shook his head. He sighed and replied: “This is too hard and too slow! Every day life is very busy. Do you think I have time to lose weight!”

It’s not just weight loss that we don’t have time to address. When I encourage sports patients to do more exercise to stay healthy, I often get the following response: “Doctor, my work has taken up most of my time. After work, I come home exhausted. Do you think I still have the ability to do more exercises to stay healthy?” Does time move?”

Turning the importance of life upside down

I could only answer earnestly: “It’s not that you have to exercise only when you have time, but you should try to set aside some time to exercise every day!”

Let’s take a look at what these three questions have in common:

Do you think I have time for a headache?

Do you think I have time to lose weight?

Do you think I have time to exercise?

The root of these three problems is that we have turned the importance of life upside down. When we prioritize work and neglect our health, we don’t have time to do the things that keep us healthy.

In my busy medical life, I often remind myself that I need time to balance all aspects of my life, time to maintain health, time to take care of family life, time to cultivate friendships, and time to relax. Of course, it’s easier said than done. Only by managing your time well and cherishing it can you achieve a balanced life.

Thinking deeper, if we really don’t have time to get sick, then maybe there is only time to die!
